NRC staff will have an open house and poster session beginning at 5 p.m. EDT at the Hartsville Public Library, 147 W. College Ave., in Hartsville. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., NRC staff will give a presentation on the plant's safety performance in 2013. NRC staff will be available after the presentation to answer questions from the public on the plant's performance as well as the agency's oversight and inspection. Overall, the NRC staff concluded that the Robinson plant operated safely in 2013 and will receive normal detailed baseline oversight and inspection efforts in 2014. The most recent inspection findings and performance indicators at the plant were "green," meaning they had very low safety significance. The plant did receive additional oversight and inspection during 2013 due to a white inspection finding of low to moderate safety significance. It involved failure to perform adequate preventative maintenance on a key diesel generator. The NRC uses color-coded inspection findings and performance indicators to assess plant performance. The colors start with "green," and escalate to "white," "yellow" or "red," based on the significance of the issues.
