Thecurrently existingTechnical Specification 3/47.1.2requirestheverification ofeachvalveintheflowpath,including valveswhicharelocked,sealed,orotherwise securedinposition, beinginitscorrectposition.

TheSafetyEvaluation ReportenclosedwithMr.S.A.Varga'sOctober6,1980,letterconcludes thatTechnical Specification 3/47.1.2adequately meetsGenericRecommendation GSŽ2,therebyconfirming thereliability ofAFWSystem.Assuch,noT/Sconcerning thisitemarerequiredfortheCookPlant.(4)SafetGradeAFWSstemInitiation andFlowIndication II.E.1.2Mr.S.A.Varga'sletterofJune16,1981,andreferences therein,concluded thatItemII.E.1.2ofNURE&4737 wasacloseditemfortheCookPlantpendingtheinstallation ofenvironmentally qualified amd.liary feedwater flowratetransmitters.

AssuchnoT/SarerequiredfortheCookPlant.Fortherecord,newtransmitters wereinstalled byJune5,1981.Thesetransmitters werepurchased aspartoftheUtilityTransmitter Qualification Programsponsored bywisconsin ElectricPowerCompanyinwhichAEPparticipated.

Thetransmitters successfully completed testingonAugust10,1982,howeverthefinaltestreporthasnotbeenreceivedyet.

Containment isolation iscaused,attheCookPlantbymeansofavarietyofESFsignalswhicharealreadyintheexistingTable3.3-5.Furthermore, theresponsetimeofthepurgevalvesuponthereceiptoftheisolation signalisgovernedbyT/S3/4.6.3.Forthesereasons,nonewT/Sconcerning thisitemaresubmitted fortheCookPlant.(12)ReortinSVandRVFailuresandChallees(II.K.3.3)
