B.Description oftheCurrentRequirements IT/SSR4.6.2.2.d requiresthatatleastonceevery5years,thewaterfiowfromthesprayadditivetanktestlinetoeachcontainment spraysystem(CTS)beverifiedtobegreaterthanorequalto20gallonsperminute(gpm)andlessthanorequalto50gpm.Thissurveillance requiresthistesttobeperformed whenthespraypumpisoperating onrecirculation withapumpdischarge headerpressuregreaterthanorequalto255poundspersquareinchgauge(psig).C.BasesfortheCurrentRequirements ThepurposeofthesprayadditivesystemflowrateSR4.6.2.2.d istoensurethatthecorrectpHlevelisestablished intheboratedwatersolutionprovidedbytheCTS.Thissurveillance requirement providesassurance thatthecorrectamountofsodiumhydroxide willbemeteredintotheflowpathuponCTSinitiation.

ProperpHisimportant forpost-accident iodinescrubbing bytheCTSandforminimizing corrosion effectsoncomponents withinthecontainment.
