ISSUANCE OF RENEWED FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NOS. NPF-2 AND NPF-8 FOR JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2

Dear Mr. Stinson:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-2 and NPF-8 (Enclosures 1 and 2), together with their Technical Specifications. These renewed facility operating licenses are being issued on the basis of the NRC staffs review of your license renewal application for the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant (FNP), Units 1 and 2, dated September 12, 2003, as supplemented and amended.

The renewed license for FNP, Unit 1, Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-2, expires at midnight, June 25, 2037. The renewed license for FNP, Unit 2, Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-8, expires at midnight, March 31, 2041.

The technical basis for issuing the renewed licenses is set forth in NUREG-1825, Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, dated May 2005. The results of the environmental review related to the issuance of the renewed licenses are given in NUREG-1437, Supplement 18, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Supplement 18, Regarding Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, dated March 2005.

L. M. Stinson Enclosure 3 is a copy of the Federal Register notice announcing the issuance of the renewed licenses. The original of the notice has been sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
