By letter dated December 21, 2004, NEI submitted NEI 04-01 to facilitate the discussion withthe U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) concerning the information needed to evaluatea combined license application (ADAMS Accession Number ML050110295). Enclosed is a table (ADAMS Accession No. ML051720199) which includes NRC staff first-round commentson portions of NEI 04-01. The NRC plans to issue two additional first-round comment letters onNEI 04-01, Revision D. The last letter is expected to be issued in August 2005.Each comment has been numbered such that the NRC can track its resolution. The commentshave been segregated into either comments the staff believes are needed to make the guidance reflective of NRC regulations and guidance or suggested changes to improve theguidance.
