Dave Gasperson, 404-997-4417 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at McGuire Nuclear Station Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Atlanta have named Christian Scott as the agencys new resident inspector at the McGuire Nuclear Station in Huntersville, North Carolina.

Scott joined the NRC in June 2006 in the Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program and worked as a reactor engineer before becoming a resident inspector in 2011. He served as a resident inspector at the Robinson nuclear plant near Hartsville, South Carolina, and the Catawba Nuclear Station in York, South Carolina.

Christian brings 15 years of technical experience to this important role. I am confident that he will help to ensure the McGuire plant operates safely and meets all of the NRCs safety requirements, said NRC Region II Administrator Laura Dudes.

Scott holds a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, and a bachelors degree in applied physics from Morehouse College in Atlanta.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two resident inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conduct regular inspections, monitor plant operations and significant work projects, and interact with plant workers and the public.

He joins NRC senior resident inspector Andy Hutto at the McGuire plant, operated by Duke Energy.
