No: I-15-032 June 30, 2015 CONTACT: Diane Screnci 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan 610-337-5331 New NRC Resident Inspector Assigned To Limerick Nuclear Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa., have selected Matthew Fannon as the new Resident Inspector at the Limerick nuclear power plant in Limerick, Pa. Exelon Nuclear operates the two-unit site.
Matt Fannons training and technical expertise will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission to protect people and the environment by ensuring the safe operation of Limerick, said NRC Region I Administrator Dan Dorman.
Fannon joined the Region I office in June 2013 after graduating from the University of Tennessee with a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering. Most recently, he was a reactor engineer in the Region I Division of Reactor Projects. He is a graduate of the NRCs Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program and has completed a rigorous inspector qualification program. He also served in the U.S. Navys nuclear propulsion program for six years.
Fannon joins Senior Resident Inspector Scott Rutenkroger at Limerick. Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC Resident Inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
