Sheehan, (610) 337-5331 NRC ASSIGNS NEW INSPECTOR TO NINE MILE POINT Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa., have assigned Edward C.

Knutson as a resident inspector at the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station in Scriba, NY. He joins Senior Resident Inspector Gordon Hunegs and Resident Inspector Brian Fuller at the two-unit site.

Knutson joined the NRC in 1991 as a reactor engineer in the Region I office in King of Prussia.

He has worked as a resident inspector at the Robert E. Ginna plant in Ontario, N.Y., and most recently at Vermont Yankee in Vernon, Vt. Prior to joining the agency, Knutson served in the United States Navy for 14 years.

Knutson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interfacing with plant workers and the public.
