have selected Eric Miller as the new Resident Inspector at Nine Mile Point nuclear plant in Scriba, N.Y. He joins Senior Resident Inspector Ken Kolaczyk at Nine Mile Point. The two-unit site is operated by Constellation Energy Nuclear Group.

Miller joined the NRC in 2008 after earning a dual bachelors degree in mechanical and nuclear engineering from The Pennsylvania State University. After completing the NRCs Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program, a two-year training program that provides specialized training in nuclear safety and a broad perspective of NRC regulatory activities, he worked in the Office of New Reactors performing design certification reviews. Miller also completed a rigorous NRC inspector qualification program. Most recently, he was a reactor inspector in Region I.

Eric Miller has the training and commitment to safety that will help the NRC carry out our mission of protecting people and the environment, said NRC Region I Administrator Bill Dean. He will work to ensure Constellation safely operates Nine Mile Point.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC Resident Inspectors.

They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.

Inspectors can serve for up to 7 years at any one site.

The Nine Mile Point Resident Inspectors can be reached at 315-342-4041.
