The information is as initially received without verification or evaluation, and is basically all that is known by Region II staff (Atlanta, Georgia) on this date.

UPDATE - ST. LUCIE UNIT 2 SHUTDOWN TO REPAIR REACTOR COOLANT PUMP SEAL INJECTION LINE LEAK This preliminary notification supplements information in PNO-II-07-008, which documented the manual reactor trip of the St. Lucie Unit 2 on August 18, 2007, in response to an increased unidentified reactor coolant system (RCS) leakage. The licensee determined that the leak came from a socket weld on the 1B reactor coolant pump (RCP) seal injection line. The licensee repaired the leak by removing the section of pipe containing the cracked weld and installing a blank flange on the downstream flange and a pipe cap on the upstream piping.
An extent of condition review and boric acid inspection were performed. The subject seal injection line is only used for flushing following maintenance on RCP seals and is not required during normal operation of the RCP.
No significant problems were identified.
On August 30, 2007, St. Lucie Unit 2 was restarted. The resident inspector performed a containment walkdown prior to startup and observed the licensee returning the unit to operation. No significant problems were identified.
The State of Florida will be informed. The information in this preliminary notification has been reviewed with licensee management, and is current as of 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 31, 2007.
