SUBJECT:

SHUTDOWN GREATER THAN 72 HOURS DUE TO CONDENSER TUBE LEAK

On February 15, 2015, St. Lucie Nuclear Station, Unit 2, received a secondary chemistry alarm associated with the main turbine condenser. Operators referred to the appropriate response procedures and commenced a rapid unit downpower. The unit was manually tripped at 25%

power, as part of the normal shutdown procedure. The unit was placed in Mode 3 (hot shutdown) without complications.

Secondary chemistry cleanup activities are in progress and will be completed while in Mode 3.

Resident inspectors are closely monitoring t he licensee's evaluation and repair activities.

The State of Florida has been informed.
