PUBLIC MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT

Title:

Public Meeting with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to Discuss the Restart Review of the National Bureau of Standards Test Reactor (NBSR)

Date(s) and Time(s): March 02, 2023, 06:00 PM to 07:30 PM ET Location: Webinar, NIST HQ Lecture Room D Category: This is an Observation Meeting. This is a meeting in which attendees will have an opportunity to observe the NRC performing its regulatory function or discussing regulatory issues. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff or make comments about the issues discussed following the business portion of the meeting; however, the NRC is not actively soliciting comments towards regulatory decisions at this meeting.

Purpose:

The purpose of this meeting between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and NIST is to discuss NRC and NIST activities supporting the NRC review related to the restart of the NBSR. The restart review is being conducted in response to a February 3, 2021, event where the NBSR shut down automatically in response to a higher than normal radiation level in the air leaving the reactor building. NIST staff will be afforded the opportunity to present their perspective on the event and subsequent NIST staff actions related to the event.
