This letter provides notification that Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) intends to submit a Subsequent License Renewal Application (SLRA) for the Renewed Facility Operating Licenses at Edwin I. Hatch (Plant Hatch) Units 1 and 2, located in Baxley, Georgia. This notice is being provided pursuant to NRC Regulatory Information Summary (RIS) 2009-06, Importance of Giving NRC Advance Notice of Intent to Pursue License Renewal, dated June 15, 2009.

The first Renewed Facility Operating Licenses for Plant Hatch Unit 1 (DPR-57) and Unit 2 (NPF-5) were issued on January 15, 2002. The Hatch Unit 1 Renewed Facility Operating License will expire at midnight on August 6, 2034, and the Hatch Unit 2 Renewed Facility Operating License will expire at midnight on June 13, 2038. SNC intends to submit an SLRA for the Renewed Facility Operating Licenses for Plant Hatch Units 1 and 2 in accordance with 10 CFR Part 54, Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants, by the end of 2025.

As discussed in RIS 2009-06, SNC will keep the NRC informed of any changes to the anticipated schedule for filing the SLRA and facilitate the NRCs efforts to plan and coordinate license renewal applications.
