Ladies and Gentlemen:

In accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 50.54(p), Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) hereby reports that the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2 (HNP) Physical Security Plan (PSP) has been revised to Version 18-HNP-2.1. provides a summary description of the changes incorporated into the HNP PSP, Version 18-HNP-2.1. SNC has reviewed the changes in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 50.54(p)(2) and determined that this revision does not decrease the safeguards effectiveness of the HNP PSP.

Enclosure to NL-22-0271 Description of Changes to the Physical Security Plan

Description of Changes The Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2 (HNP) Physical Security Plan (PSP) has been revised to Version 18-HNP-2.1.

Specifically, HNP PSP Section 11.2.3, Waterborne Threat Measures, has been edited to change the description of the intake boom from a barrier to a demarcation.

Effective Date March 26, 2022.

Conclusion SNC evaluated these changes in accordance with 10 CFR 50.54(p)(2) and determined that the changes do not reduce the effectiveness of the PSP for HNP. The 10 CFR 50.54(p) evaluation and PSP are available for inspection at the NRCs request.
