On September 25, 2023, to March 30, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a regulatory audit as part of its review of Mitsubishi Electric Corporations (MELCOs)

Topical Report JEXU-1041-1008, SAFETY SYSTEM DIGITAL PLATFORM - MELTAC Revision 3. The NRC audit participants included NRC staff from the Division of Operating Reactor Licensing and the Division of Engineering and External Hazards from the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.

The virtual audit was performed via Microsoft Teams and an online portal established by MELCO. The purpose and objective of the audit was to verify the basic design information of the updated MELTAC Platform, to determine if additional information will require docketing to develop and support conclusions for the NRC staffs safety evaluation and identify those areas of the review that may need additional focus.
