SCHEDULE FOR THE SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW OF THE PEACH BOTTOM ATOMIC POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3, SUBSEQUENT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (EPID NUMBER: L-2024-SLE-0003)

By letter dated June 5, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) ML24157A069) Constellation Energy Generation, LLC (CEG) submitted a letter to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC, staff) regarding the subsequent license renewal of Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station, Units 2 and 3 (Peach Bottom), in which CEG requested that the NRC staff provide a plan for completing the environmental review for Peach Bottom and for restoring the end dates for the subsequent renewed licenses. By letter dated September 6, 2024 (ML24221A258), the NRC staff provided a plan for completing the required regulatory activities to include an environmental audit. By letter dated November 13, 2024 (ML24313A101) the NRC staff provided a detailed environmental audit plan. The environmental audit has concluded, and the NRC staff provided a summary of the audit activities and requests for additional information and requests for confirmation of information in a letter dated December 13, 2024 (ML24344A110). The staff is now proceeding with the preparation of a draft supplement to NUREG-1437, "Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants Regarding Subsequent License Renewal for Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station Units 2 and 3 (NUREG-1437, Supplement 10, Second Renewal) Final Report," which will be issued for public comment.
The purpose of this letter is to provide the NRC staffs projected review schedule to complete the supplemental environmental review for Peach Bottom (Enclosure 1). The NRC staff will follow established review procedures and the enclosed schedule to complete the reviews required by Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) part 51, Environmental Protection Regulations for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Functions, and part 54, Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants. The NRC staff has estimated that the supplemental environmental review will take approximately 2,650 hours0.00752 days <br />0.181 hours <br />0.00107 weeks <br />2.47325e-4 months <br /> to complete. If there are emergent complexities or challenges in our review that would cause changes to the initial forecasted completion date or significant changes in the forecasted hours, the reasons for the changes, along with the new estimates will be communicated via separate correspondence. in the enclosed schedule or the estimated hours because these dates, if applicable, would be established by the Commission or the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board and new resource considerations would need to be developed. The projected review schedule to complete the supplemental environmental review for Peach Bottom was communicated to CEG staff on February 26, 2025.
