Update to NRC Review Schedule for ISU LAR
Dear Dr. Dunzik-Gougar:
By letter dated February 13, 2023, Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML23074A066, as supplemented by letter(s) dated June 15, 2023 and April 26, 2024 (ML23174A104 and ML24137A307, respectively), Idaho State University (ISU) submitted a license amendment request (LAR) for the ISU research reactor facility. The current proposed LAR would remove the Channel 2 low scram, remove the Channel 3 5% low scram for ranges below and including the transition range, reword Technical Specification Section 3.2 Specification d, and Remove terms Unit A and Unit B from Technical Specification Table 3.1.
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of a schedule update to the review of the LAR. The NRC staff now expects to complete its review and make a final determination on the LAR by July 12, 2024. This estimate could change due to several factors, such as a need for additional RAI(s) and an unanticipated addition of scope to the review. The NRC staff will promptly communicate any additional schedule changes that would extend the expected completion date.
