Update NRC Review Schedule for ISU LAR
Dear Dr. Dunzik-Gougar:
By letter dated February 13, 2023, Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML23074A066, as supplemented by letter(s) dated June 15, 2023 (ML23174A104), Idaho State University (ISU) submitted a license amendment request (LAR) for the ISU research reactor facility. The proposed LAR would remove low power scrams for nuclear safety Channels 2 and 3, replace channel 2 and 3 detectors, and modify the Technical Specifications Sections 3.2, Control and Safety Systems.
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of a schedule update to the review of the LAR. The NRC staff now expects to complete its review and make a final determination on the LAR by May 16, 2024. This date was communicated with you verbally on February 5, 2024. This estimate could change due to several factors, such as additional RAI(s) and an unanticipated addition of scope to the review. The NRC staff will promptly communicate any additional schedule changes that would extend the expected completion date.
