No: IV-23-006 June 30, 2023 CONTACT: Victor Dricks, 817-200-1128 NRC Names Leanne Flores Resident Inspector At South Texas Project Nuclear Power Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Leanne Flores as the new resident inspector at the South Texas Project nuclear power plant in Bay City, Texas.

Leanne brings strong technical expertise and experience to this important role. I am confident that she will excel at carrying out NRCs inspection program to ensure that South Texas Project continues to operate safely, said NRC Acting Region IV Administrator Rob Lewis.

Flores joined the NRC in April 2019 as a project engineer in the Resident Inspector Development Program in the Region IV office in Arlington, Texas. Most recently, she worked for the division of operating reactor safety as a reactor inspector. She has also served as the acting resident inspector at other nuclear power plants including Cooper Nuclear Station and Columbia Generating Station.

Prior to that, Flores was a shift test engineer at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 10 years and worked as a project engineer for several years in the private sector. She holds a bachelors degree in chemical engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors.

Flores will work with senior resident inspector Greg Kolcum. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
