Sanchez Jr. as the new senior resident inspector at the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station located near Bay City, Texas.

Alfred Sanchezs technical and regulatory experience will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission to protect people and the environment by ensuring the safe operation of nuclear power plants, said NRC Region IV Administrator Arthur T. Howell.

Sanchez joined the NRCs Region IV office in Arlington, Texas, in April 2000, as an Operations Examiner. Most recently, he served as the Senior Resident Inspector at Arkansas Nuclear One. He was also the Resident Inspector at Comanche Peak. Prior to joining the NRC, Sanchez was a Senior Reactor Operator at the Texas A&M Nuclear Science Center. He holds a bachelors in Nuclear Engineering and masters in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors.

Sanchez joins resident inspector David You. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
