Nuclear Fuel Industries, Ltd.

2022.11.8 NFK-MPCF-2209003-01 Prepared by Reviewed by Approved by Summary of describe the modification of the new SAR

1. Chapters added to the SAR due to the amendment of Japanese regulation.

(5) Chapter II-F Aging Considerations for Nuclear Fuel Packages (Create New)

Evaluation of aging was added to the SAR due to amendment of the NRA Ordinance on off-Site Transportation of Nuclear Fuel Materials, etc. Issuance: Order of the Prime Minister's Office No. 57 of December 28, 1978 and the Notification on Technical Details for Off-Site Transportation of Nuclear Fuel Materials, etc. Issuance: The Public Notice of the Science and Technology Agency No. 5, an extra of November 28, 1990. Four aging factors (heat, radiation, chemical, fatigue) of packaging and contents were evaluated in chapter II-F (Aging of Consideration s for Nuclear Fuel Packages).

(1) Chapter II-A A.4.4.10 Evaluation of Repetitive Stress due to Lifting (Create New)

(2) Chapter II-A A.4.6.3 Evaluation of Repetitive Stress due to Internal Pressure (Create New)

These chapters were added to SAR with addition of chapter II-F. One of aging factors (fatigue) was evaluated in chapter II- F, and this detailed evaluation was conducted in chapter II-A (A.4.4.10 and A.4.6.3). Fatigue by repetitive stress due to lifting was evaluated in chapter A.4.4.10, and fatigue by repetitive stress due to internal pressure.

2. The modified chapters due to NRA (Japanese authority) requests (unrelated to the amendment of Japanese regulation)

(3) Chapter II-A A.4.7 Vibrations (Significant changes)

This chapters was modified significantly because NRA requested more quantitative evaluation of vibration. To meet the requirement of the NRA, the natural frequency of package was compared with the frequency by excitation force received from vehicle during transport, and it was confirmed that there is no risk of damages and cracking of 1

packaging due to the displacement amplitude multiplication by the two frequencies.

(4) Appendix 3 to Chapter II-A Supplementary Explanatory Material for Derivation of Natural Frequency (Create New, relating to A.4.7).

This chapter was added to the SAR due to derivation of natural frequency of package(related to A.4.7).

(6) Chapter II-G Evaluation of Conformity to Regulations and Stipulations in the Public Notice (Significant changes)

This chapter was modified significantly because NRA requested that the evaluation of each chapter be specific in its description.

(7) Chapter II-E Criticality Analysis (Change of descriptions wording and error correction)

This chapter was modified in the wording throughout. Table II-E-1 was corrected for errors. These changes dont affect any evaluation of criticality analysis, and there is no additional evaluation.
