Schroeder as the new senior resident inspector at the Salem nuclear power plant in Lower Alloways Creek Township, N.J. He joins NRC Resident Inspector Harry Balian at the two-unit site.

Schroeder first joined the NRC in 2002 as a reactor inspector in the Regional Office. He has worked most recently as a resident inspector at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station in Delta, Pa.

Prior to joining the agency he served as a commissioned officer in the Navy for six years, and as an engineer for BOC Gases.

Dan Schroeder has the experience and commitment to safety that will help the NRC ensure that Salem conducts operations with the highest safety standards to protect public health and safety,"

said NRC Region I Administrator Samuel J. Collins.

Schroeder earned bachelors degree in physics from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He also completed the Navys nuclear power school.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
