This is an Observation Meeting. This is a meeting in which attendees will have an opportunity to observe the NRC performing its regulatory function or discussing regulatory issues. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff or make comments about the issues discussed following the business portion of the meeting; however, the NRC is not actively soliciting comments towards regulatory decisions at this meeting.
Purpose:
The purpose of this public meeting between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), and Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), is to discuss NRC's acceptance review of NEI 16-03, Revision 1, "Guidance for Monitoring of Fixed Neutron Absorbers in Spent Fuel Pools" (ADAMS Accession Nos. ML2221B041 and ML22298A281). NEI-16-03, Revision 1 refers to and includes EPRI's Technical Report 3002018497, "Industrywide Learning Aging Management Program (i-LAMP): Global Neutron Absorber Material Monitoring Program for Spent Fuel Pools," dated August 2022, as an alternative monitoring approach.
