NRC ASSIGNS NEW INSPECTOR TO GINNA NUCLEAR PLANT Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa.,

have selected Douglas Dodson as the new resident inspector at the R.E.

Ginna nuclear power plant in Ontario, N.Y. He joins Senior Resident Inspector Gordon Hunegs at Ginna, which is operated by Constellation Energy.

Dodson graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelors of science degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering and a bachelor of arts in religious studies. He joined the agency in 2007. He is a graduate of the NRCs Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program, a two-year training program that provides specialized training in nuclear safety and a broad perspective of NRC regulatory activities. He has also completed a rigorous NRC inspector qualification program and is also a qualified technical reviewer. Most recently, Dodson worked as project engineer in the Region I office.

Doug Dodson has the training and commitment to safety that will help the NRC carry out its mission of protecting people and the environment, and ensure the safe operation of Ginna, said NRC Region I Administrator Bill Dean.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC Resident Inspectors.

They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.

Inspectors can serve for up to 7 years at any one site.
