LOUISIANA ENERGY SERVICES, LLC, - INTERIM APPROVAL OF DECOMMISSIONING COST ESTIMATE AMOUNT FOR 2022 - 2024 (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFIER L-2021-DFA-0006)
Dear Wyatt Padgett:
We have reviewed your updated decommissioning cost estimate for 2022 through 2024 submitted by letter dated June 30, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML21189A274) and supplemented by letter dated October 11, 2021 (ADAMS Accession No. ML21288A078, non-public). We approve the updated decommissioning cost estimates for 2022 through 2024. Specifically, we find that the cost estimates are based on reasonable and documented assumptions and are based on the costs of an independent contractor. They are also based on unrestricted use and include an adequate contingency factor. In addition, they adequately estimate the cost to carry out required decommissioning activities before license termination. We have started processing the review of your financial assurance instruments submitted via letter LES-21-168-NRC dated December 15, 2021 (ADAMS Accession No. ML22063A481).
Your submittal was assigned Enterprise Project Identifier (EPID) L-2021-DFA-0006. The EPID will remain open for processing the review and approval of the updated financial assurance instruments. Our safety evaluation report for the approval of the decommissioning cost estimates is enclosed.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 2.390 of the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC) Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room The enclosure transmitted herewith contains proprietary information.
When separated from the enclosure this document is decontrolled.
