OF AUGUST 5, 2021, PRE-SUBMITTAL MEETING WITH FRAMATOME AND THE U. S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REGARDING TOPICAL REPORT EMF-2310, SUPPLEMENT 2 - SRP CHAPTER 15 NON-LOCAL METHODOLOGY FOR PRESSURIZED WATER REACTORS: BIASI CRITICAL HEAT FLUX CORRELATION DESIGN LIMIT FOR HTP FUEL (EPID L-2020-TOP-0052)

On August 5, 2021, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held an open teleconference meeting via Microsoft Teams with representatives from Framatome Inc.

(Framatome). The purpose of the meeting was for the NRC staff and Framatome representatives to discuss Topical Report (TR) EMF-2310, Supplement 2, SRP Chapter 15 Non-LOCA Methodology for Pressurized Water Reactors: Biasi Critical Heat Flux Correlation Design Limit for High Thermal Performance (HTP) Fuel. The meeting was noticed on July 21, 2021, and is available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML21202A083.

During the meeting, the Framatome representatives provided an overview, explained the range of applicability, critical heat flux correlation design limit description, and content of what would be submitted in the EMF-2310 supplement. The NRC staff asked the Framatome representatives about submitting the associated data prior to the submittal. The NRC staff and Framatome representative agreed to have a follow-up discussion regarding the feasibility and logistics of transmittal and review of the pre-submittal data to facilitate the review. There were no questions and/or comments from members of the public during the meeting. At the end of the meeting, the NRC staff and Framatome representatives discussed the next steps which included the planned TR submittal in February 2022, and a requested approval by August 2022.
