Dear Mr. Wilgus:
SUBJECT:
CRYSTAL' RIVER UNIT 3 - LER 88-008-01 (TAC N0. 73784)
'l By letter dated May 23, 1989, you requested that the staff review draft changes 1
to your Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR). These changes involve an increase-in the time that a steam generator with a ruptured tube may be. operated before being isolated; they also address the open' trap isolation valves leading from the main steam lines.
. j As members of your staff are aware, we are working with the B&W Owners Group to l
close' open issues related to the bases for your E0P's. One aspect of this work involves the development of an overall steam generator tube rupture mitigation guidance that could affect the assumed operator actions described in your
. submittal.
If you revise the FSAR to account for the revised SGTR mitigation procedure i
under 10 CFR 50.59, we will review that evaluation as part of our periodic j
review of your 10 CFR 50.59 changes.
j Sincerely, Original signed by l
Harley Silver, Project Manager i
