Subject:
McGuire Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-369 and 50-370 Proposed Technical Specification Changes for Equipment Staging Building Gentlemen:
Attached are proposed license amendments for Facility Operating Licanses NPF-9 and NPF-17 for McGuire Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2, respectively. The proposed changes seek to incorporate the Equipment Staging Building (also referred to as the Maintenance Staging Building) Ventilation system into the McGuire Nuclear Station Technical Specifications as a new gaseous effluent release point and to impose Technical Specification requirements on the ventilation system and its components. The facility was described in my letter dated May 4, 1987 to the hTC for review. This letter presented a detailed description of the facility and much of the technical information which will be needed to review this proposal.
It is desired by Duke Pouer to operate the exhaust system as early as possible to facilitate maintenance and modifications at McGuire. To prevent a negative impact upon the station outages, it is requested that this proposal be reviewed and approved in time for the upcoming Unit 1 outage, scheduled to begin September 4, 1987.
Attachment I contains the proposed changes to the Technical Specifications. contains the Justification and Safety Analysis in support of the proposed changes; this includes an analysis conforming to the standards contained in 10CFR 50.92 as required by 10CFR 50.91 which concludes that the proposed amendments do not involve any Significant Hazards Considerations. Attachment 3 contains an Environmental Assessment of the proposed changes, and Attachment 4 contains general arrangement drawings of the facility.
This request involves one application for amendment to McGuire's Technical Spec-ifications. Accordingly, purouant to 10CFR1 170.21, a check for $150.00 is enclosed.
