Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 ' Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414 Technical Specification Amendment Technical Specification 4.7.6.d Gentlemen: please find attached proposed license amendments to Facility Operating License Nos.~NPF-35 and NPF-52 for Catawba Units 1 and 2,.respectively. The. proposed -change to Technical Specification 4.7.6, Control Room Area Ventilation System 4 f. Surveillance Requirements, seek to extend ~the carbon adsorber sampling frequency from 720 hours to 1440 hours. The Catawba Nuclear Station Control Room Ventilation System is equipped with state-of-the-art Triethylenediamine (TEDA) carbon adsorbers which have been demonstrated.to maintain very high levels of Methyl Iodide efficiency under extended operation conditions. Laboratory 1 ,I analysis of carbon samples indicate that extending the sampling interval to 1440 LI hours has an insignificant effect on the efficiency of the adsorbers. The-proposed change to Technical Specification 4.'7.6.d is justifiable and was found not to involve any unreviewed hazard consideration. Attachment I contains the proposed revision to the Technical Specifications. Attachment II contains the Justification and Safety Analysis in support of the proposed changes. Attachment III provides a determination that the proposed _1 changes would not involve any significant hazards considerations as defined by 10 CFR 50.92. This proposal involves one amendment request to Catawb'a's Technical 3 Specifications. Accordingly, pursuant to 10 CFR 170.21.a check for $150.00 is l enclosed. pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91 (b) (1) the appropriate South Carolina State Official is l being provided a copy of this amendment request.
