MEMORANDUM FOR: Chesley D. Evans, Instructor BWR Technology Branch, TTC, DQAVT, OIE FROM: Stephen D. Roessler, Acting Chief BWR Technology Branch TTC, DQAVT, OIE

SUBJECT:

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF DIFFERING PROFESSIONAL OPINION Receipt of a differing professional opinion " Problems Associated with Exclusive Use of BWR-6 Technology in the BWR Reactor Inspector Course Series" is hereby acknowledged. Thic differing professional opinion was received in draft form, signed and dated on August 27, 1986. An updated version of the same subject matter was received, signed but undated also on August 27, 1986. Both versions are provided as attachments to this memorandum.

It is noted for the record that you did not consult with your immediate supervisor for aid in identifying related information and assistance in clarifying the issues as required by NRC Manual Chapter 4125-037. Such clarification would likely have removed any concerns which you have.

Should assistance in administratively preparing or refining the existing written statement of differing professional opinion or in identifying information related to this differing professional opinion become necessary, you should request such support to me in writing so that such effort can be prioritized within the BWR Branch workload.

Additionally, should subsequent work time on your part be required in the further development of this differing professional opinion, you should likewise request this in writing. In either case your request should indicate both the nature of the assistance required and an estimate (in man-hours) of the assistance required.
