Dear Sir:
Implementation Schedule for Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 50.48 (10 CFR 50.48)
Fire Protection Modifications This letter is in response to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)
April 10, 1987 letter related to the schedule for implementation of 10 CFR 50.48 for Trojan.
In the NRC letter, it was stated that fire pro-tection and alternate or dedicated shutdown system modifications required to meet 10 CFR 50.48 be completed by the end of the 1988 refueling outage (June 1988). Portland Concral Electric Company (PGE) was requested to notify the NRC in writing if this schedule is not correct, and to keep the NRC apprised of any schedule delays, and of the completion of the 10 CFR 50.48 modifications.
Pursuant to your request, all 10 CFR 50.48 firo protection modifications for the Trojan Nuclear Plant have been completed with the following exceptions:
1.
Installation of a new remote shutdown panel and related 10 CFR 50.48 modifications as described in PGE's February 18, 1987 letter to the NRC.
2.
Installation of a 1-hr-rated fire barrier around one channel of cables for a new neutron source range monitor and removal of a 2-minute time delay for suppression system actuation in Fire Area El, as described in the PGE May 31, 1985 letter to the NRC (which trans-mitted Amendment 1 to the 10 CFR 50 Appendix R Review).
3.
