NOTE TO: 'Gordon Gundersen, NMSS/IMNS Phillip Brochman, NMSS/SFPO OCFO has reviewed the proposed rule entitled Elimination of Reporting Requirement and 30-Day Hold in Loading spent Fuel After Preoperation Testing of Independent Spent Fuel Storage or Monitored Retrievable Storage Installations, 10 CFR 72.82 (e) and will concur in the package with the addition of a Resources section in the memo to the EDO that addresses (1) the savings and the related reprogramming of the resources currently expended to review licensee-submitted reports of the preoperational testing of an independent spent fuel storage installation or monitored retrievable storage installation, and (2) the potential savings associated with no longer having to review requests for. exemption from the current rule.
Assuming that you will add the Resources section as requested, OCFO does not need to see the memo again before you send it to the EDO. However, please send me a copy of the final package for our files.
