SUMMARY

OF UNIT 1 OPERATING EXPERIENCE May 1986 5/1 Unit 1 began this reporting period at full Reactor Power (825 MWe) 5/9 At 2145, Reactor Power waw reduced to 740 MWe to clean Condenser Water Boxes.

5/10 At 0530 power was further reduced to 565 MWe to repair an oil leak on 11 SGFP. (Steam Generator Feed Pump) 5/Ir* At 1218, SGFP repairs were completed and the Unit began increasing power to 740 MWe.

At 1335, Water Box cleaning was completed and the Unit increased power to full load (825 MWe) 5/16 At 2150, the Unit began reducing power to 790 MWe so a new type of Traveling Screen could be installed.

5/19 At 0400, the new Traveling Screens were installed and rotating, and the Unit began increasing power.

5/31 The Unit was at full Reactor Power (825 MWe) at the end of this reporting period.

.. - ~

SUMMARY

OF UNIT 2 OPERATING EXPERIENCE May 1986 5/1 Unit 2 began this reporting period at full Reactor Power (825 MWe).

t 5/21 At 2302, the Unit was tripped manually because of a loss of a SGFP.

5/22 At 2255, the Reactor became critical.

5/23 At 0157 the Breaker was shut.

No cause for the incident had been found, but all additional checks required by POSRC had

]

been completed.

5/23 At 0500 the Unit was held at 160 MWe for a chemistry hold.

j At 1005, Chemistry hold removed, began increasing power.

I 5/23 At 1500 the Unit stopped increasing power and began testing Main Feed Pumps.

5/25 At 1355 the Unit began increasing Reactor Power.

j 5/26 At 0518 Unit 2 was at full Reactor Power (825 MWe).

5/27 At 1024 the Unit tripped automatically because of a loss of-SGFP.

5/28 At 0310, the Reactor became critical.

5/28 At 0548 the Unit was paralleled and began increasing power.

The apparent cause of the trip was a failure of the Feed Pump Instrumentation.

l 5/28 At 1100 the Unit stabilized at 60% (520 MWe) for troubleshooting.

5/31 The Unit remained at 60% power to the end of this reporting period.
