Dear Ms. Grimmett:

By letter, undated, and a telephone conversation, on January 31, 1994, with George McCann, Chief, Fuel Facilities & Decommissioning Section you provided the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) with information concerning possible exposure to Uranium-235.

An evaluation of this issue will be conducted which I anticipate will take a minimum of 120 days to complete. The review may include the participation of Goodyear Aerospace Company, Akron, Ohio to resolve the issue. We will attempt not to identify you as the source of our information and their response will be subject to our audit. However, due to the specific nature of your concern we may not have any choice but to release your identity. Please notify me if you have any concerns with this. I will inform you of_ the results upon completion of the reviews.

Let me assure you that every effort will be made to resolve your concerns. l The U.S. NRC is responsible for protecting the public in the uses of nuclear facilities and materials. We engage in major efforts on a daily basis to fulfill that responsibility.

Please write to me at Post Office Box 2027, Glen Ellyn, Illinois 60138-2027,  ;

or telephone me at-(708) 829-9500 if you have any additional information or questions. Your cooperation with us is appreciated.

Sincerely, j Driginal signed by Donald Funk Donald E. Funk Jr.
