SUBJECT:
Telephone Conversation with resident regarding concerns On March 3,1994, liike Mc Cann and I returned a telephone call to an individual that lived 4-5 miles away from the Goodyear facility. This individual had previously talked to the individual that called the NRC regarding allegations at that facility (see AMS-RIII-94-A-0013).
This individual lives in Suffield, Ohio and stated the she moved into her current home approximately 6 years ago and lives 4-5 miles away from the Goodyear facility. The caller has two children with learning disabilities and a neighbor recently died from leukemia. This individual fears that their drinking water to their home may be contaminated with a toxic substance or may contain radioactive material as a contaminant. The alleger did not have any proof or evidence that her drinking water was cont minated, she could only assume and speculate that the problems associated with her children and the recent death of her neighbor are associated with their drinking water. We assured the caller that we plan to look into the possibility that Goodyear may have discharged radioactive material to the environment and would consider her concern during that review. The caller appeared satisfied with oJr response to her concern.
We contacted Bob DeFayette on March 3, 1994 and he agreed that we could document this call as a conversation record and not open another allegation because the original allegation was similar in nature.
