60137 Docket No. 070-03025
Dear Dr. Adam:
We have been billed by the NRC for licensing fees for licensing fee categories IK ("All other SRf1 licenses") and 2G ("All'other Source Material Licenses").
We feel the source material category does not apply to us, and discussed this with Glenda Jackson of the license Fee Management Staff in Washington.
She told us that, per a discussion with you, the " source material" category is included because of the possibility that source material might be present on contaminated equipment purchased by us from other licensees.
Our application requested that we be licensed to possess contaminated equipment obtained from Monsanto (License No. SHM-567) and from other licensees.
Our license as approved, however, allows contaminated equipment to be obtained only from !!onsanto (paragraph 6F).
We have verified through Monsanto's Radiation Safety Officer, Steve Hoadley, that Monsanto was not licensed to possess Source Material, uranium, or thorium.
Since we are restricted to obtain contaminated equipment only from a licensee who was not licensed to possess source material, thorium, or uranium, the contaminated equipment we are authorized to have cannot contain these materials.
The inclusion of
" source material" in paragraph 6F of our license is therefor unnecessary and extraneous; we request that the word " source" be deleted from paragraph 6F of our licEnDC@pVgag the correspond-ing fee also be deleted.
