Thaqk you for your views on the National Research Council Report on Revitalizing Nuclear Safety Research. The Commission is now considering the report recommendations, and l met with the Committee Chairman, Dr. Robert A. Frosch, and several of the Committee members on February 25, 1987 to hear their views directly. He have also received the NRC staff's '
initial response to the report, and the staff's recommendation on the independent advisory panel which the Conmittee proposed.
I assure you that the Commission will include your views in its overall consideration of this policy issue. As Chairman, I intend to ensure that the research program receives the
