Our review is scheduled for completion prior to our approval of

, subsequent plant reloads or technical specification changes involving core

,, opera tion. Presently, due to the complexity of the rod swap technique and calculations, our approval of the use of rod swap is limited for use only by Westinghouse in accordance with the approval of WCAP 9863-A.

MCGUIRE AND CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATIONS, UNITS 1 AND 2

1. Are all the rod worth calculations done with the EPRI-N0DE-P code, including both Pod Swap and Rod Worth for Shutdown Margin?

2. Section 3, "Measuren,ent Procedure": Subrait detailed procedures for the measureraents. Include the actual boron dilution rate and the flux level for each of the sets of tests included in the recert.

. 3. Section 4, " Calculational Procedure" - under 5: How many calculations

- are performed for each bank and at what positions?

4. Table 3. "a's": Are the values given at the predictec heights? -

5. Submit a copy of Refercrce 2.

6. Provide data for at least 2 sets of side-by-side comparisons of boron dilution and rod swap data - predicted and measured. The data r.ay be either for your plants or neasured cata f rom another plant and predicticrs by Duke.

7. What organization does the safety analyses for the Duke plants? When
