NIAGARA MOHAWK POWER CORPORATION NINE MILE POINT NUCLEAR STATION UNIT 1 NARRATIVE OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE 1

The station operated during the month of March 1987 with a Unit Availability Factor of 100.0% and a Net Design Electrical Capacity Factor of 98.8%.

There were no challenges to Electromatic Relief Valves. Reductions in Capacity Factor were due to power reductions for weekly control rod exercising.

CLASS I WORK - INSTREHENTATION AND CONTROL - MARCH 1987 WR # 106155 Calibrate lube oil pressure switch on 102 D.G.. Low oil pressure alarm tripping Unit. Unable to duplicate problem.

WR # 106164 RBCLC T.C.V. Oscillating. EFI induced from maintenance buss

.during plant maintenance activities.

WR # 105131 LPRM 20-25B.

Spiking upscale.

Performed I-V curve plotting per N1-IMP-Q-NEU-4.2.

WR # 105135 LPRM 20-33B. Spiking upscale causing half scrams.

Performed I-V curve per N1-IMP-Q-NEU-4.2.

WR # 105136 LPRM 28-33C. Spiking and causing half scrams. Performed I-V curve per N1-IMP-Q-NEU-4.2.

Cleaned all contacts in IS48 and IS11.
