09 May 26, 1988, the Boston Edison Company (EEco) forwarded the Pilgrira Nuclear Power Station (PNPS) Self-Assessment of Readiness for Restart Report and the  ;

PNPS Restart Plan, Volume 2, Revision 2. The Self-Assessment of Readiness for  :

Restart Report describes both the process and the concl6 ions of the Restart j Readiness Self-Assessment by BECo Nuclear Organization muagemen;. The Restart Plan, Volume 2, Revision 2 provides updated results for the Restart Plan. ,

The Self-Assessment Rsport provides a summary description of identified issues related to plant and equipment performance, operational performance, and .

management and organization which require specific action before restart as

! well as a summary description of the actions that have or will be taken in i response to the major SALP 86-99 observations. Th6 discussions focus only upon

the relatively discrete set of issues BEco management considers most important and worthy of greatest attention at this time. Consequently, to perform an adequate review of the BEco self-assessment an on-site review is necessary to

understand the thoroughness and comprehensiveness of the self-assessment and the process used in reaching the final conclusions. l The on-site review by NRC staff of BEco's self-assessment has been scheduled for the week of June 20, 1988. You are directed to lead the review effort. .
