PROPOSED CHANGE TO INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM Re:
Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (GGNS-1)
By letter dated July 23, 1986, Mississippi Power & Light Company requested approval to use a portion of the 1983 edition of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Code),Section XI in the E' INS-1 Inservice Inspection (ISI) Program.
The GGNS-1 ISI Program is in accord with the 1977 edition of the Code.
The staff has discussed this request with MP&L personnel, and it was agreed that the request should be a request for relief from the 1977 edition of the Code pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(a)(5). Please resubmit your request as a relief request and provide the information required for such requests including the specific components, applicable code requirements, information to support the determination that the code requirements are impractical, the specific relief requested, and reasons why relief should be granted.
Our scheduled review completion date is September 16, 1986.
In order to meet our schedule, you should provide the above requested information by August 16, 1986.
If you cannot meet this date please advise the Project Manager, L. L. Kintner within 7 days of receipt of this letter.
.The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
