10 CFR 50.55a, INDUSTRY CODES AND STANDARDS: AMENDED REQUIREMENTS, PROPOSED RULE We have reviewed the subject proposed rule for compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.) and request that the following changes be made:

' 'k Add section 50.8, "Information collection requirements: 02 approval" (Attachment 1).

Replace the Paperwork Reduction Act Statement with Attachment 2.

You may wish to check the section citations referenced in section 50.55a(g)(6)(ii)(A)(2) to verify whether they should read 50.55a(g)(6)(ii)(A)(3) and (4), and 50.55a(g)(6)(ii)(A)(3). See attached markup for clarification.

We have placed publication of the rule on nold with the Office of Administration pending IRM a) proval of the 0E clearance package. We are working directly with Wally %rris of your staff to finalize the submittal.

a PAPERWORK REDUCTION ACT STATEMENT This proposed rule amends information collection requirements that are subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq).

This rule has Deen submitted to the Office of Management and Budget for review and approval of the information collection requirements.

The public reporting burden for this information collection is estimated to average hours per response, including the time for reviewing  :

instructions, searching existing deta sources, gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the information collection. The U.S. Nuclear Regulabry Commission is seeking public comment on the potential impact of the information collections contained in the proposed rule and on the following issues:

1. Is the proposed information collection necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the PRC, including whether the information will have practical utility?
2. Is the estimate of burden accurate?
3. Is there a way to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected?
4. How can the burden of the information collection be minimized, including the use of automated collection techniques?
