10/11/84 2 of 7 1.2 SCOPE 1.2.1 This doctament cover's the rules governing the location and spacing of both permanent and temporary attactments and fixture supports on embedded plates, and the transmittal of interv.ation pertaining to BOP attactusects on embedded plates and cites the re fe'cance doctaments which establish these criteria and pre sent additional detailed data. The requirements of this procedure shall govern except when specifically detailed otherwise 3n the originating engineerig organ..zation's dravig or upon issue of a pertinent de sig n cha nge.
1.3 CENERAL DISCUSSION 1.3.1 The stwe. ural members and operations to which this doctament pertains are the 3/4" thick plates anchored to the building walls and ceilings by Nelson Studs,,the fixture supports attached to these platas, and the location of these attactments on the plates.
The purpose of these plates is to provide structurally competent surfaces to which fixtures, such as pipe hangers and cable tray j
hangars, can be permanently attached by welding. The need for g
proper location of the supporN on the plates is to avoid placing loads in areas or insufficient strength due to Nelson Stud loca-tion or nearness to the edge of plate.
1.4 RISPONSIBILITT 1.4.1 The proper location, spacing of attactmente, and transa ttal of d
informatica pertaining to BOP attactments on the embedded plates shall be the renonsibility of the superintendent of the craft engaged in inst' '
tion of the attactments.
1.5 ZEFINIbONS 1.5.1 Strip Flases" are. those plates 3/4" thick, either 8" or 10" vide and of various lengths which are anchored to concrete surfaces by
- eabeddad Nelson Studs.
1.5.2 "large Plates" are those pistes 3/4" x 4 '0" x 8'0" or * ? z 8'0"
.x 12'0" which are anchored to concrete surfaces by emb=;ved Nelson Studs. This includes plates of either of these nominal sizes which
']
were modified to include cut-outs or irregular outside shapes to coutorm to building configurations.
