On August 17 and 18, 1988, the NRC administered examinations to employees of

your company who had applied for licenses to operate the Beaver Valley Unit 1
Power Station.
At the conclusion of the examination, the written examination

questions and coments relative to provided reference materials or identified

plant deficiencies were discussed with those members of your staff identified
j
in the enclosed report.
The attached report documents an NRC observation made during the subject
inspection that pertains to the accessibility of reactor plant centrols from
l

the remote shutdown panel.
Our concern relative to this observation pertains
to whether the present remote shutdown panel arrangement is commensurate with
appropriate physical restrictions for access to reactor plant controls.
You

are requested to review this matter and inform us, in writing, of the results
