10 CFR 20.1703 (b) (1), second sentence:

Add the words

" multiple defined in the preceding sentence" and delete the words

" peak concentration." so that the sentence reads as follows:

"If the selection of a respiratory protection device with a protectio l

factor greater than the multiple defined in the preceding sentenc is inconsistent with the goal specified in 20.1702 of keeping th 4

total effective dose ALARA, the licensee may select respiratory protection equipment with a lower protection factor only if such selection would result in keeping the total effective dose equivalent ALARA."

factor (which has no units) that is greater than a peak j

concentration (which has units of activity per unit volume).

revised wording is consistent with the intended meaning of this t
