1.0 INTRODUCTION
A.
The Abnormal Procedure Review Training Findings conducted by the Operations Department has concluded that additional training is required on I
the Starting of the Primary Water Storage Tank (PWST) Transfer Pump
2.0 DESCRIPTION
A.
PWST 1.
Desirable.as a source of water in the event of a cooldown without the Borated Water Storage Tank (BWST) and no Offsite. Power (AB 1203.03)~
a.
PWST transfer pumps are essential powered 1) 1-1 from E11C 2) 1-2 from F11B B.
PWST Transfer Pumps 1.
To start the Transfer Pump a.
Open PW 6881, the suction valve for the TP 1 PWST transfer pump 1)
Switch located on the lower level of the Clean Waste Monitor Tank Transfer Pump Room 2)
When open button is pushed it i
energizes Relay 4 and also energizes the Agastat relay TD-1
-l a)
The time delay is set for 200 seconds b)
If transfer pumps pressure does not reach 50 psig or greater within 200 seconds then PW-6881 will close
)
RES-OPS-008.00 i)
Due to contact TD-1 opening 3)
When PW-6881 is fully open, contact 33/ao closes and energizes relay 33x and energizes the open indication a)
This relay stays energized as long as PW-6881 is fully open 4)
When relay 33x is energized, it closes TP 2 contact 33x in the Transfer Pump starting circuitry b.
When the operator pushes the start button for the transfer pump the 42 relay is energized and the 42 contacts are closed 1)
Energizes the motor 2)
Closes the 42a contact in the closing circuitry c.
When the pump discharge pressure reaches 50 psig, the PS contact in the PW-6881 TP 1 circuitry closes and seals in the open signal C.
PWST Transfer Pump Automatic Trips TP 2 1.
High motor winding temperature a.
Opens the TSH contacts 2.
Low PWST water level
.I a.
Opens the LSLL contact
]
3.
PW 6881 not fully open a.
Opens the 33x contact D.
PW-6881 Automatic Closure TP 1 1.
Less than 50 psig discharge pressure 8

RES-OPS-008.00 a.
Opens the PS contact E.
Requires two operator to perform a local start of the transfer pumps due to the distance between the pumps and PW-6881 3.0
SUMMARY
A.
Must have PW-6881 fully open to start the PWST Transfer Pumps B.
Must have PWST Transfer Pumps discharge pressure greater than 50 psig to maintain PW-6881 fully open 4.O EVALUATION A.
None required for this lesson.
5.0
