i On 9-13-85 at 0110 with the unit suberitical during the performance of STP-000-0001 (Daily Operating Log), a Reactor Protection System (RPS) actuation 4

l occurred.

This was caused by an operator's error when the Intermediate Range Monitor (IRM) "E" Channel Mode Switch was inadvertently moved from operate to standby.

The IRM "E" Channel was placed back into the operate position, and the scram reset.

a we w maa. inn On 9-13-85 with the unit suberitical, Operations was performing STP-000-0001 (Daily Operating Log). During the performance of this procedure the Reactor Protection System (RPS) actuated. This occurred when an operator inadver-tently moved the Intermediate Range h!onitor (IRh!)

"E" Channel hfode Switch from operate to standby.

The cause of the RPS actuation resulted from having the RPS "A" Channel shorting links removed along with placing the IRh! "E" Channel hfode Switch in standby.

The shorting links were removed from RPS "A" Channel to put RPS in non-coincidence because 1-ST-3 (Fuel Load) was being performed. The operator attempted to adjust the IRhl "E" Channel blode Switch into the operate position because the switch indicated it was past the operate position. This adjustuent inadvertently resulted in moving the mode switch from the operate position to the standby position.

The corrective action taken was to place the IRh! "E" Channel hfode Switch in the operate position. A hiaintenance Work Request was issued to adjust the IRh! "E" hfode Switch so that it indicates position correctly.
