Dear Mr. Parisi:
This letter is to request formal written permission from the American Institute of Physics to place a copy of the manuscript "A protocol for the determination of absorbed dose from high-energy photon and electron beams," that was published in Medical Physics, Volume 10, Number 6, pages 741 through 771, in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Public Document Room.
Currently, NRC cobalt-60 teletherapy licensees must calibrate their teletherapy units in accord with the procedure that was published in Physics in Medicine and Biology, Volume 16, Number 3, in 1971. The NRC staff has prepared a proposed revision of its teletherapy regulations that would allow licensees to use that procedure or the newer 1983 procedure by incorporating both procedures by reference in the NRC regulations. In order to incorporate a procedure by reference in the regulations, the NRC needs the copyright holder's permission.
A copy of the manuscript would be placed in the Public Document Room file along with other materials that pertain to the revision.
Copies could be obtained directly from NRC for a reproduction fee.
