EVALUATION OF

SUMMARY

REPORT Re: Cooper Nuclear Station In accordance with the requirements of Supplement I to NUREG-0737, Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) submitted a Sumary Report of the DCRDR program at Cooper Nuclear Station by letter dated February 4,1985.

Subsequent to this submittal, the NRC by letter dated March 20, 1985 provided the results of an in-progress DCRDR program audit conducted by the NRC staff and_ contractor personnel (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory) at Cooper on November 27-29, 1984. Anticipating receipt of coments from the in-progress audit, NPPD, in a February 4,1985 letter, comitted to provide a Supplemental Sumary Report to address NRC comments. In a letter dated April 30, 1985 you stated that the Supplemental Summary Report would be submitted by February 28, 1986.

We have completed our interim review of your February 4,1985 Sumary Report. The results of our review are provided in the enclosed status report and the accompanying Technical Evaluation Report (TER) provided by our contractor. The NRC staff agrees with the technical positions and conclusions provided in the TER. A number of concerns were identified during the audit and in the subsequent review of your Sumary Report and are discussed in the enclosures. You are requested to address these concerns and the associated recomendations for satisfying the requirements of Supplement 1 to NUREG-0737 in your Supplemental Sumary Report. Mr. J. M. Pilant expected that consideration of these concerns will not delay submittal of the Supplemental Report by February 28, 1986.
