Nebraska Public Power District ""%h$kShfbe0***'*"S May 24,1985 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention: Domenic B. Vassallo, Cldef Operating Reactors Branch No. 2 Division of Licensing U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555

Dear Mr. Vassallo:

Subject:

NUREG-0737 Supplement 1 SdO DCRDR Enhancement Schedule On February 4,1985, the District submitted our Detailed Control Room Design Review (DCRDR) Summary Report. This report contained a schedule which indicated various enhancements would be made to the control room panels during the present 1985 refueling outage. After discussions with the staff, this letter is written to inform that the District has terminated for a period of approximately 3-6 months, all efforts to provide enhancements to the control room panels. This delay affects our previously submitted schedule to a minor degree.

The reason that this delay is necessary is that the Supplement 1 integration effort has made us aware that many Reg Guide 1.97 and CRDR modifications will shortly require that the new enhancements to the panels be removed. Since removal of the enhancements can result in permanent defacing of the panels, it is not advisable to perform the enhancements which will only exist for a relatively short period of time. An additional reason for deferring the enhancements until the other efforts progress, is that the resources necessary to design and install the enhancements are effectively lost when the enhancements are removed during the next refueling outages.

This delay in enhancement implementation should not affect the overall modification schedule submitted February 4, 1985. On 8506030241 850524 I, 3 PDR ADOCK050g2y8 F
